Baton Rouge: Man arrested in connection to deadly interstate shooting

BATON ROUGE, La. — Baton Rouge Police and the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force arrested Avery Hall, 24, for the alleged shooting death of a 28-yr-old on I-12 in Oct. 2022.

Hall and Jacoby Hibbler, 18, were arrested on Feb. 22 in the 4400 block of South Sherwood Forest Blvd. 

Hall was arrested for the shooting death of Toby Taylor, 28. The shooting happened around 3am on I-12 on October 8, 2022. The driver, a 25-yr-old man, and his passenger, Taylor, were headed westbound on I-12 when someone shot at their vehicle between Airline Hwy. and Drusilla Lane. The driver took himself and Taylor to the hospital, but Taylor did not survive his injuries.

During Hall’s arrest, officers also confiscated 1,000 grams of marijuana, 13 grams of mushrooms, an undisclosed amount of money and two guns, one of which was reported stolen.

Hall was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for first-degree murder, PWID schedule 1, resisting an officer, obstruction of justice, possession of firearm with CDS.

Hibbler was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for possession of marijuana, possession of firearm with CDS, illegal carrying of a weapon, illegal possession of stolen firearm and resisting an officer.
