BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police is reporting that two more people have been arrested in connection with a November 2025 shooting death that occurred in the 2700 block of Lorraine Street. This brings the total arrested to five individuals.
Eric Byrd, 39, and James Williams, 44, are the latest arrested and charged for the Nov. 14, 2025, murder of a man on Lorraine Street in Baton Rouge. Gretna Police officers apprehended Byrd, and he extradited back to Baton Rouge. Williams was apprehended in Baton Rouge by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force. They were both booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of second-degree murder.
On Jan. 26, officials arrested 43-year-old Damian Drake and charged him with one count of second-degree murder, per his arrest warrant.
Officials arrested 39-year-old Christopher Andrews in connection with the Nov. 14, 2025 shooting death of Darrell McBride. He is charged with second-degree murder, per BRPD.
In December 2025, officials arrested 39-year-old Raydrick Sterling for his alleged role in McBride’s death. Sterling was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for second-degree murder.
On Nov. 14, 2025, BRPD officers responded to the 2700 block of Lorraine Street for a man “down in the roadway,” per an affidavit. The man (identified as McBride) was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake, where he died from his injuries.
From their investigation, BRPD Homicide detectives learned that McBride had gone to sell personal items at a location on Lorraine Street.
An anonymous witness also told detectives that at the time of the incident, they’d observed a group of people surround the vehicle that McBride arrived in, remove him from the vehicle and physically assault him. According to officials, McBride was “confronted by several individuals who began physically assaulting him.”
McBride attempted to get away from the group, but fell in a driveway. That’s when one of the individuals in the group pulled out a gun and shot him, per the affidavit. Investigators were able to recover video surveillance showing the assault.
The anonymous witness helped identify Drake as one of the men involved in the initial beating, adding that he has a paralyzed arm. Per his arrest warrant, Drake allegedly “used only his functioning arm to strike the victim both before and after the shooting.”

BATON ROUGE — A 37-year-old was killed on Friday after sources tell UWK he fell and someone shot him.
It was around 5 p.m. on Nov. 14 when Baton Rouge Police officers responded to the 2700 block of Lorraine St. near Hollywood St., west of I-110.
UWK has learned the victim may have gone to the location to sell some items, but then he ended up in front of a group where he was allegedly beat up. When he attempted to flee, that’s when sources tell UWK the man fell and someone shot at him, killing him. He was rushed to a hospital but did not survive his injuries.
The man has been identified as 37-year-old Darrell McBride.
It’s unclear what led up to the fighting and shooting. Anyone with information on the suspect(s) is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
