Baton Rouge multi-vehicle fatal crash

Baton Rouge: Nine vehicle pile-up leaves one dead, seven injured

BATON ROUGE —- City Police officers are investigating a pile-up involving nine vehicles and one fatal injury, Baton Rouge Police reported.

The crash happened shortly before Noon near the intersection at N. Foster Dr. and Prescott Rd. in Baton Rouge.

BRPD said 19-year-old Terrance Ruffin died on the scene and seven others were transported to a hospital. One of the seven was listed in critical condition, BRPD said.

The investigation so far shows a 2023 KIA Sorrento was in the left lane and a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu was in the right lane, both headed north on North Foster Drive. BRPD says the driver of the Kia hit the back driver’s side of the Malibu, which Ruffin was driving. Both vehicles ended up crossing over into the southbound lanes.

The KIA then hit a 2004 Mazda Tribute, which triggered both vehicles to roll over. A 2017 Malibu then hit Ruffin’s Malibu on the passenger side.

It’s unclear at this time if anyone is facing any charges.
