Suspect in Madison Brooks rape, rape of 12-year-old girl remains in Livingston Parish jail

LIVINGSTON, La. — Kaivon Washington, who is charged with raping a Louisiana State University student, remains in the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a $250,000 bond after he was charged with raping a 12-year-old girl when he was 15 in 2020, officials confirmed to UWK.

Washington, 18, turned himself in to the Walker Police Department January 27 after Unfiltered with Kiran broke news of the reopened 2020 rape investigation.

The teen told UWK exclusively that she met Washington at a pool party when he was a student at Walker High School. She says Washington allegedly forced his way into her apartment when she was friends.

Man hit, killed while walking on La. 42, driver arrested

PRAIRIEVILLE, La. — An investigation is underway after a man was hit and killed Saturday morning while walking along La. 42.

Louisiana State Police say 58-year-old Bret Millet was hit on La. 42 north of I-10. State police say that Millet was in the road when he was struck by Casey Cantrelle, 47, of Destrehan.

Police say Cantrelle left the scene and did not report the crash. He later returned to the scene and admitted to driving the vehicle, police said.

Fake DoorDash accounts created, some are now receiving 1099 tax forms

LIVINGSTON, La. — An investigation is underway after at least four Livingston Parish residents received 1099 tax forms from the food delivery company DoorDash. The problem? None of them worked with DoorDash.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office tells Unfiltered with Kiran that it appears the issue was caused by someone who obtained information from a third-party source to create alleged fraudulent Dasher accounts.

APSO makes 2nd arrest in Prairieville homicide

PRAIRIEVILLE, La. — The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office made a second arrest in connection to a September homicide in Prairieville.

Officials say detectives arrested Ashtin Ursin, 21, in connection with the homicide of Jasper Dorsey Jr. Ursin is charged with second-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, criminal street gangs and patterns of criminal street gangs activity, accessories after the fact, and illegal possession of stolen things of $5k-$25k.

VIDEO: Firefighters use jaws of life to rescue two fawn caught in fence

CENTRAL, La — The Central Fire Department weren’t putting out fires this morning, they were rescuing deer!

Early Friday morning two fawn got caught in a fence off Frenchtown Rd., firefighters said.

The fire department posted video on their Facebook account showing one of the fawn caught in between a fence. The fawn’s body was in one part and it’s neck was in another.
