BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police Homicide detectives recently arrested a man for his involvement in the shooting death of Derrick Lee in December 2024. The shooting happened close to 7 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2024, in the 1100 block of North 36th Street.
Police say they found 48-year-old Derek Lee suffering from a gunshot after responding to the location. In July 2025, homicide detectives arrested Otis Douglas, 23.
Douglas was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of second Degree Murder.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that happened Dec. 23 around 3:30 p.m. in the 15000 block of Old Hammond Highway.
Investigators say the shooting appeared to have occurred inside of a vehicle and that a man was found dead inside of that vehicle.
Baton Rouge Police are also investigating a separate deadly shooting that happened on Dec. 21st on the 1100 block of North 36th Street.
Lee was transported to a local hospital but died from his injuries.
Police are now investigating the shooting as a homicide.
