Baton Rouge Police investigating deadly accident with man found shot in vehicle

BATON ROUGE, La. — Baton Rouge Police are investigating a homicide that happened Saturday afternoon on Interstate 110 in the city.

It was just after 1pm when police responded to I-110 northbound by Memorial Stadium or the Fuqua/Scenic exit area.

The driver of a vehicle ran off the curve area of the interstate near Memorial Stadium and into a tree. Inside the vehicle though, officials say Jayrick Washington had been shot. That’s what caused the driver to run into a tree, sources tell UWK. The driver died on the scene.

It’s unclear at this time where exactly the shooting took place, on the interstate with another vehicle pulling up and an occupant shooting or somewhere else.

No further details have been provided at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
