Baton Rouge Police officer hit while running radar on Airline Hwy.

BATON ROUGE — A Baton Rouge Police officer was transported to a hospital after a crash Wednesday morning in the city.

The crash involved a BRPD officer and happened around 10:15 a.m. on May 15. The wreck happened around Airline Hwy. near I-110. Officials tell UWK the officer was conducting speed enforcement on Airline Hwy. eastbound trying to stop vehicles that were speeding. That’s when a vehicle lost control and hit the officer, who was outside his police car trying to stop another vehicle.

Officials say the officer was transported and is listed in stable condition at this time. Officials added his injury is non-life threatening and he is up and talking.

The name of the officer involved has not been released at this time.
