BATON ROUGE —- A Baton Rouge teenager is still missing and Baton Rouge Police officers are requesting the public’s help with any information on his whereabouts. The United Cajun Navy is now partnering with the teen’s family in sharing his information and searching for the missing teen.
Ja’Derrius Minnieweather, 15, was last seen on June 5, 2026. Police did not specify where he was last seen, but United Cajun Navy Incident Commander Josh Gill, who is working with officials, shared that Minnieweather was last seen in the “Ghost Town” area of Baton Rouge. He was last seen wearing black sweat pants, black and gray Jordan shirt, and red Nike slippers.
He’s described as being 5’0” tall and weighing 98 pounds, brown eyes and dreads. Gill says that the teen’s family and friends are deeply concerned for his safety and are asking the public to remain alert and help share his information.
The family and United Cajun Navy will be out at 2 p.m. on Friday to continue searching for Ja’Derrius
UWK spoke with Ja’Derrius’ mother, Aquarius Minneweather. She said her son is a typical 15-year-old boy.
“He loved to hang out with his friends and family, love to beg for money,” she said. “He did the typical things that a teenager would do.”
Aquarius said these last week has been out of the ordinary for him.
“He has never not come home or let his phone be dead for this long,” his mother said. “It seemed like he’d almost have a panic attack trying to put his phone on the charger and come back on. And if it did die and he wasn’t around his charger, he’d use one of his friend’s phones and contact me and let me know he’s on his way home.”
Aquarius hasn’t heard from her son since Thursday, June 4. She told UWK she wants some kind of closure and for her son to come home.
“I wouldn’t even be mad at him. I love him; he has me worried,” she said.
