BATON ROUGE —- East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the second shooting on New Year’s Eve, the most recent being deadly.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. around Greenwell Springs Rd. & Greentree Dr., that’s near Airline Hwy.
Officials say it’s a double shooting with two victims, one of them who died on the scene. The second victim was rushed to a hospital in stable condition.
Deputies have identified the deceased as James Weber, 31.
According to witnesses, three unknown people were seen shooting the victim then fleeing the scene in a black vehicle.
The double shooting comes just four hours after BRPD responded to a shooting on O’Neal Lane, in which a person was shot and rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
Anyone with information on either of the shootings is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
