Baton Rouge rapper NBA YoungBoy arrested in Utah on drug, weapons charges

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge rapper NBA YoungBoy has been arrested in Utah on drugs and weapons charges, jail records show.

The rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was booked into the Cache County Jail on April 16. Among the charges he’s facing: forgery, identity fraud, pattern of unlawful activity, procuring or attempting to procure a drug/prescription, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and possession of a controlled substance.

NBA YoungBoy, 24, was living in Utah while awaiting trial for federal gun charges in Baton Rouge. His case stems from a music video in 2020 that was recorded in Baton Rouge. Police arrested Gaulden and more than a dozen others after receiving a tip about people with guns.

His trial was scheduled for July.

He was later arrested in 2021 in Los Angeles after reportedly fleeing from LAPD officers after an attempted traffic stop on an outstanding warrant. A K-9 unit tracked him down and police found a firearm in his vehicle.
