BATON ROUGE — Officers responded to a call for a shot fired Thursday afternoon that turned into a search for an armed man on the run.
It was around 2:30 p.m. on April 30 near Hollywood St. & Plank Rd. when officers were dispatched to a call for a man walking down the road with a gun and then firing a shot at a passing vehicle.
Officers responded to the scene, encountered the man and ordered him to come to the officers at which time sources tell UWK the man pointed a gun at the officer. That’s when sources say the officer did fire a single shot, but at this time, it does not appear anyone was struck.
The man then fled the scene and officers & K9 units are currently looking for him. A large perimeter has been set up and Prescott Academy School is locked down as a precautionary measure.
Anyone who believes they have come across the man is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP. No details were provided on what the man was wearing.
