Baton Rouge: Teen killed in New Year’s Day drive-by shooting identified

BATON ROUGE: The new year is starting out with three different shooting scenes in Baton Rouge with teen and four other people injured.

Officials tell Unfiltered with Kiran there was a drive-by shooting with the shooter(s) driving through multiple blocks and streets in Baton Rouge.

Baton Rouge police say Ramide Cosey, 15, died at the scene. The other three juvenile victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It happened before 2 p.m. on Jan. 1, 2024 near West Brookstown Dr. and Evangeline St.

Officials say Cosey and two other people were shot on Evangeline St. Another teenager was shot and injured on Victory Dr., that’s a block away from Evangeline St.

A fifth person, an adult, was shot and injured on Linden St. All three scenes are within a mile’s distance.

In total, five people were shot. Four of them were transported to a hospital in stable condition. One person died.

No further details have been released at this time including what led up to the drive-by shooting or if any arrests have been made at this time.
