Baton Rouge: Two separate shootings Monday night leave two men dead

BATON ROUGE — Two separate shootings Monday night in Baton Rouge are being investigated by the Baton Rouge Police Department and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department. Both shootings happened around 10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16.

EBRSO responded to a shooting around 10 p.m. Monday in the 13600 block of Kenner Avenue. A witness reported that a man was shot by someone as he was trying to get inside his own apartment. The victim, identified as Courtney Hart, fled on foot and was found a few blocks away on Metairie Avenue. Hart was transported to a hospital but died from his injuries.

Baton Rouge Police Homicide Detectives are also investigating a separate fatal shooting that happened in the 9900 block of Merganzer Avenue around 10 p.m. Officers responded after a shot spotter activation alert.

While searching the area, officers found Sedrick Davis, 36, with gunshot wounds in a grassy area. Davis died of his injuries at the scene.

At this time, officials do not have motives or any suspects in either shootings.

Both investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
