BATON ROUGE — A 72-year-old man died after he was hit by two vehicles.
It was just after 10 p.m. on April 18, when Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to Hooper Rd. near Governor Claiborne Drive in East Baton Rouge Parish. They were responding to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.
Patrick Dooley, 72, of Baton Rouge, died in the crash.
The investigation so far finds that Dooley was trying to cross the eastbound lanes of Hooper Rd. At the same time, a 2015 Toyota Camry and a 2011 GMC Yukon were traveling east on Hooper Rd. in the left lane.
For unknown reasons, Dooley walked into the left lane and the Camry hit him. Then, the Yukon hit him following the initial impact.
Dooley died on the scene from his injuries.
All occupants of both vehicles were properly buckled. A child passenger in the Camry had minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, per State Police. No one else was injured in the two vehicles.
Troopers do not suspect impairment for either driver, but they did take routine toxicology samples and submitted for analysis.
No charges are pending at this time.
