WBR: Barge covers on fire near Intracoastal

PORT ALLEN —- West Baton Rouge officials are reporting barge covers that are on fire south of I-10.

The fire broke out around 2pm on N. Line Rd. in Port Allen near the Port Allen Canal. Witnesses are reporting the black cloud of smoke can be seen from miles away.

They are grain barge covers that are on fire according to officials.

Lafourche deputy killed after pursuit suspect “rammed” his police car

LAFOURCHE —- A Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Deputy was killed early Sunday morning after a pursuit suspect rammed the deputy’s police car, according to officials.

Lafourceh Parish Sheriff Craig Webre said the suspect is in custody and Louisiana State Police is handling the crash and criminal investigation.

Artist paints fallen BRPD officers as gift to families

BELLE CHASE — A Plaquemines Parish deputy who enjoys spending his spare time painting put a brush to canvas as a gift to the families of two fallen Baton Rouge Police officers, Sgt. David Poirrier & Cpl. Scotty Canezaro.

The BRPD pilots were flying March 26 helping officers who were in pursuit of a Mustang whose driver was topping speeds of 150 mph.
