BATON ROUGE —- After spending the day searching for a 37-year-old man accused of killing his own girlfriend Sunday morning, Baton Rouge Police ended their night in a pursuit with Casey Warren.
It was around 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 18 when BRPD officers responded to the 12000 block of Gerald Dr. That’s between S. Choctaw Dr. & Florida Blvd. near S. Sherwood Forest Dr. in Baton Rouge.
Inside the home, officers found a woman clinging to life. She did not survive her injuries. She has been identified as Elissia Thomas, 31. She was not shot or stabbed. Instead, it was a physical fight that led up to the killing, per BPRD.
Officials said Casey Warren, her boyfriend, was believed to be responsible for her death, but he left the scene ahead of police arriving. Officials spotted him several times in and near the Zachary area and it was around 8:30 p.m. when BRPD officers found him and attempted to stop him. Instead of stopping however, Warren allegedly left officers on a pursuit before crashing his vehicle.
After the crash, Warren is said to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, per credible sources.
At this time, no further details have been released. The coroner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death to provide more details.
