Baton Rouge woman killed in overnight crash in Port Allen

PORT ALLEN — An overnight crash in West Baton Rouge Parish has left one person dead.

It happened around 1:20 a.m. on the Intracoastal in the northbound lane near the Walmart and RaceTrac gas station. It was a single-vehicle crash.

The deceased has now been identified as Taniya Smith, 24, of Baton Rouge.

Louisiana State Police and West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office are investigating the crash and what led up to it.

No further details have been released at this time.
