EAST BATON ROUGE —- Deputies are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday evening in East Baton Rouge Parish where a child was shot and died.
It was just after 6 p.m. when East Baton Rouge deputies responded to the intersection of San Juan and Santa Barbara drives. That’s near Hooper & Plank roads.
UWK has learned a young child was outside at the time of the shooting in East Baton Rouge Parish playing basketball with his siblings and was somehow shot when he got caught in the crossfire when multiple shots rang out. The young boy was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but did not survive.
EBRSO says at least one vehicle was seen driving by and firing shots. No further details have been released at this time.
Anyone with information that could help deputies is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
The shooting comes after a shooting Saturday on Old Hermitage Parkway, where a man was shot multiple times and died. Friday night, BRPD officers responded to three separate shootings.
