BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police have now identified a one-year-old boy who officers say fell out of a truck before he was run over by his own mother.
Nicholas Aguilar was a passenger in the back of a 2014 Dodge Ram and was not properly restrained, police say.
The incident happened just before 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 20 at the Murphy Gas Station on Cortana Place. That’s near the Amazon facility and Wal-Mart.
Officers say the pickup truck was making a turn in the parking lot when the back passenger door opened. Aguilar fell out of the truck on the concrete and was run over by the truck’s rear passenger-side tire.
The little boy was transported to Children’s Hospital in critical condition, but did not survive.
At this time, because it appears to be a true accident, no one is facing any charges.
