BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge General Hospital has unveiled 2025 baby name trends, from the most popular names this year to some fun stats about the newborns.
Naming trends at BRG
At Baton Rouge General’s Birth Center, over three-quarters (77%) of babies born in 2025 have a first name that no other baby born there this year has, while 9% were named after relatives and carry a Jr., Sr., III, etc., title.
• 9% of babies have creative name spelling, and 9% of baby names had an apostrophe. Only one baby this year had a hyphenated first name.
• 8% of boys had clear biblical names, while 8% of girls had flower names.
• There was also a rise in girl names from the 80s and in unisex names.

The top girl name at Baton Rouge General, Olivia, was also ranked the top girl name nationwide, according to the news release.
18% of babies at the Baton Rouge General Birthing Center were born on a Friday, making it the most common birth day at the hospital this year.
