Belaire teacher fired, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with student

BATON ROUGE – A Belaire High School teacher was fired Wednesday after allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to a news release from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

The release does not identify the teacher. Sources say the teacher was a Time Out Room (TOR) moderator at the school.

Officials say EBRPSS district leaders were notified Tuesday about the situation. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has launched a criminal investigation.

School officials say the district’s Title IX representative will open a separate, external investigation.

The teacher’s termination is effective immediately. The school system will provide counselors on campus to assist students who need those services.
