LIVONIA — The Pointe Coupee Parish School System has responded to a senior prank incident that left Livonia High School ‘trashed & destroyed’ early Wednesday. It started as some of the students taking part in small senior pranks but quickly escalated to a group of others allegedly ‘destroying & ransacking’ the school.
Multiple credible sources confirm to UWK that nearly 20 people, the majority of them students, somehow got into Livonia High School overnight around 1 a.m. Wednesday and vandalized the property.
The damage was throughout the school including the main building, classrooms, gym and hallways, sources said.
Some of the damage includes paint thrown all over the gym floor and on the bleachers, taking the trash out of cans and throwing trash and toilet paper throughout the entire school. The kids are also accused of stacking benches and then saran wrapping them, ransacking the teacher’s lounge of the coffee, sugar and all the food before throwing it all over the ground. There was also strawberry syrup spread all over the main building, sources added.
UWK is told school was in session on Wednesday as the students are in between testing.
The teenagers are accused of somehow getting in to the main office, back gate and throughout the school overnight, which should be locked. There were allegedly multiple damaged items in the main office and desks in the classrooms were overturned.
Sources added the school is completely “trashed and destroyed.”
The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office will be leading the investigation, but their investigation is also contingent on the school system’s findings and if the school system wants to pursue charges against the students involved.
UWK was told that those involved could face felony charges, including criminal damage to property, if they school system wants to pursue charges.
UWK reached out to the Pointe Coupee Parish School System on Wednesday for a response. Most of the damage to the school has been cleaned up as of Wednesday morning.
On Thursday, the Pointe Coupee Superintendent Kim Canezaro sent the following:
A senior prank occurred at Livonia High School at approximately 12:30 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, May 06, 2026. While no school property was damaged, the prank did result in a mess that required cleanup. The students involved took responsibility for their actions and arrived at school early Wednesday morning to assist with the cleanup efforts. All areas were fully functional by 8:00 a.m. As a result, Livonia High School operated on a normal schedule, and there was no disruption to instruction or student learning. The Pointe Coupee Parish School System is moving forward from this incident and appreciates the cooperation that allowed the school day to proceed as usual.
