BATON ROUGE– There will be a lunch benefit held May 8, 2024 to help a BRPD officer in need following a brain aneurysm.
Baton Rouge Police Corporal Sirtelli Dorsey began experiencing head and neck pain on April 13. After seeking medical attention, doctors found that Dorsey had a ruptured brain aneurysm that caused bleeding on his brain.
“Everybody has had a migraine before but it felt like I didn’t even have enough room in my head. It was just like very intense the worst headache ever felt in my entire life.” Dorsey said. “I actually told my wife you know, I felt like I was going to die to be honest.”
Dorsey is still recovering and it is unclear when he will be able to return to work. The family is asking for donations to help cover any medical and monthly bills. Dorsey tells us he’s just grateful for the way people have rallied to help him.
“It just means so much for people to put on a fundraiser for me. I didn’t know the cost of neuro (medicine) until now.” Dorsey said.
The benefit for the BRPD officer consists of a $15 plate that includes a raffle ticket. Pre-purchase tickets must be purchased by May 2. You can pick it up from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Baton Rouge Police headquarters, 9000 Airline Highway. But, you will also be able to drive up and buy tickets at that time.
