Benefit Saturday for Zachary detective’s daughter

ZACHARY – A local business owner is hosting a benefit dinner Saturday to help his niece.

Jermaine Williams, the owner of Pete Williams BBQ in Zachary, is hosting the benefit for Khloe Sanders, the daughter of Zachary Detective Enoch Sims.

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at Faith Spiritual Baptist Church, 4450 Mills St. in Zachary.

“My motto is ‘It could be them now,’ it could be us then,'” Williams said. “Anybody who needs help, I want to help them. If I can do it for everybody else, I can do it for my family, too.”

Sanders, 13, had successful surgery to remove a benign brain tumor on May 17 at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Three weeks before the surgery, Sanders began having seizures and was taken to the emergency room, where the tumor was discovered in her left temporal lobe.

The proceeds from Saturday’s benefit will help cover Sanders’ medical expenses.

Preorders will be accepted up until Saturday. Walkups are welcome on Saturday. You can cash app $lilpetebbq for tickets and donations.
