BATON ROUGE — St. Alphonsus Catholic Church will host a replacement blood drive Sunday to benefit Bobby Tarver, who was critically injured in a wreck that also killed his wife and his father.
Tarver was driving June 14 with his wife Carla and his father Bob when they were hit by a speeding truck that had run a red light on Main Street at North Ninth Street. The driver of the truck, former LSU football player Richard Murphy, was later arrested for vehicular homicide, drunken driving and other crimes.
Carla and Bob Tarver died at the scene of the crash. Bobby Tarver was critically injured.
The blood drive Sunday runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church at 14040 Greenwell Springs Road in Greenwell Springs.
Each blood donation will result in a $30 credit for Tarver’s medical expenses.
