EBRSO identifies man found in Comite River waterway near Central

CENTRAL, La. – A man whose body was found near the Comite River has been identified.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has identified the man as 38-year-old Humberto Vasquez. His body was found around 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, just outside of the Central city limits in a waterway along Hooper Road.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy.

Vasquez’s body was found by EBR sheriff’s deputies near the Comite River in a waterway in the 8600-block of Hooper Road. It was located near the Comite River Park between Blackwater and Bliss roads in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Vasquez was identified as the driver in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a Baton Rouge man on Jan. 24.
