BR: Firefighters responding to diesel fuel spill

BATON ROUGE — A diesel fuel spill has shut down the area near S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. and N. Harrell’s Ferry Rd.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to a diesel fuel spill around 10:00 am on Sunday, Sept. 3. It happened at the Circle K on the corner of S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. and N. Harrell’s Ferry Rd.

BRFD said in a news release, “The incident has been swiftly addressed, and the BRFD’s Hazardous Materials Unit is on the scene to manage the situation.”

The spill has been contained, and there is no danger to the public.

As a precautionary measure, the BRFD is asking people to avoid the immediate area until the cleanup operation is completed.

A cleanup crew is en route to remove the spilled diesel fuel and remediate any potential environmental impact.
