Writing was something Baton Rouge resident Sarah White said she always loved to do. She parlayed that interest going from writing blogs to becoming a published author.
The 27-year-old’s book, “The Land of Red, White, and Blue,” was published in March 2022 and was made available online in May 2022.
The book aims to focus on the importance of American freedom and gratefulness toward American heroes as well as God. The age range is from 3-12 years old.
“I’ve always loved writing,” she said. “I love the lord and had been writing about that for a while. When my nephew was born, that got me into the children’s realm. His birth had me wondering what kind of world is he coming into?”
White earned her bachelor’s degree and her MBA from LSU and works in banking, so how did she add published author to her list of accomplishments?
“I have several family and friends who have been encouraging me to write,” White said. “One day, I googled what it takes to get a book published and Christian Faith Publishing came up. I said to myself, ‘What do I have to lose?’ It was a long process.”
After signing with Christian Faith Publishing, White said the process of editing the book and getting illustrations took about a year, although the process was worth it according to the author.
“I really enjoyed writing it over the last year,” she stated.
White said the experience reached a peak when the publishing company first accepted the book and when she saw it for sale online for the first time.
“Once I saw my book on Amazon, I was like, this is real,” she said. “I’ve gotten to do some book signings near my hometown of New Iberia. They’ve been really supportive. The response from everyone has been better than I expected.”
White said she has also written four other books that she hopes to get published in the future. All the books share the same purpose.
“I just believe in the purpose in why I started writing and the purpose of these books,” she said. “It’s about serving others, having gratitude. There’s so much negativity in the world. I want to write books that are meaningful and encouraging to families so that they can stand firm in the world with all things that go on.”
