Baton Rouge Police officers were asked to help New Orleans Police find a stolen car, allegedly taken during an armed carjacking in New Orleans on Nov. 23rd.
The car was tracked to a restaurant on Corporate Blvd. in Baton Rouge, which is why NOPD asked BRPD for help.
When officers arrived at the restaurant’s parking lot around 8pm on Wednesday, they said they spotted the stolen car with a man next to it. That’s when the man ran into the restaurant’s kitchen.
The man is accused of then going into the main dining area of the restaurant and spotted officers outside. As officers made their way into the restaurant, they asked everyone to leave out not knowing if the man was armed or not.
The man eventually tried to run but officers caught him and the keys to the stolen vehicle were allegedly found in his pocket.
Jamal Treyjon, 21, was booked into the EBR Parish Prison for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Treyjon is accused of running away from two different law enforcement agencies in Mississippi before returning to Louisiana.
