LIVINGSTON — A Livingston Parish man was in court today, accused in two cases, one of them the hit-and-run crash that killed a 20-year-old woman in March 2025. In that case, the State believes there is evidence that another person may have been in the vehicle with Brandon Chenevert when Jody Mann was hit.
According to Assistant District Attorney Brett Sommer, today’s time in court was a preliminary examination, where the judge decided there was probable cause in both cases against Chenevert, meaning both cases will continue to move forward.
In June 2025, Chenevert entered a not guilty plea for the charges in connection with the hit-and-run crash.
Chenevert was later found with marijuana vapes in his vehicle in December 2025. He was charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute. That arrest is what got Chenevert’s bond revoked in February in the hit-and-run crash case, Sommer explained.
The next court date is set for September.
At this time, the State believes there may have been somebody else in the vehicle on March 29, 2025. They are asking for the public’s help with any information.
