BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Police say two men were killed after a police chase ended in a crash Wednesday night in Baton Rouge.

Authorities confirm that the chase, as initially reported by UWK, began in St. Gabriel when police attempted to stop a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro. According to State Police, 24-year-old Jeremiah Downing was speeding on LA 30 and refused to pull over.
Downing continued driving at a high speed on LA 30 before crashing into a 2006 GMC Sierra at the Bluebonnet Boulevard intersection, according to State Police. Investigators say the Sierra’s driver was turning left onto Bluebonnet when Downing struck him head-on.
State Police report that neither Downing nor his passenger, 22-year-old Hunter LaGrange, was wearing a seatbelt. LaGrange was pronounced dead at the scene, while Downing was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the Sierra was wearing a seatbelt but sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
As part of standard procedure, toxicology samples will be collected and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
