BATON ROUGE — A 23-year-old woman has died following a crash on North I-110 near Convention Street late Monday night.
The accident occurred around 11 p.m. and claimed the life of Kobi Kishann Tircuit, according to Baton Rouge Police.
Officials say Tircuit was driving a Volvo sedan southbound in the northbound lanes when she collided head-on with a Ford Mustang. Both drivers appeared to have attempted to avoid the crash by steering toward the inside lane, but this maneuver ultimately led to the collision.
Tircuit was not wearing a seatbelt, according to officials. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but later died due to her injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Mustang, both of whom were wearing seatbelts, sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing.
