Update | Suspect shot after exiting vehicle armed with gun in hours-long standoff

BATON ROUGE, La. — An hours long stand-off has ended with a 27-yr-old shot by Baton Rouge Police officers, according to officials.

EMS confirms the suspect was transported in critical condition.

BRPD identified the man shot as Cameron Shorter, 27, a second-degree attempted murder suspect.

Unfiltered with Kiran is told the stand-off started around 1pm at the corner of Florida & Sherwood Forest boulevards in Baton Rouge after Shorter fled.

Sources tell UWK Shorter ran behind a Walgreens and had been barricaded in a vehicle for several hours.

Officials say after nearly three hours of negotiating, Shorter came out of his vehicle armed with a gun and that’s when SRT fired a shot at Shorter.

Dozens of officers and the Special Response Team (SRT) had a very large perimeter set up spanning several blocks.
