Officers responded to two separate shootings in North Baton Rouge that happened five minutes apart and about a mile apart.
The first one was just past 6pm in the 1300 block of N. 39th St. near Cain with a person shot in the leg.
Minutes later and a mile apart, a double shooting came in at the corner of N. 31st St. & Iroquois with the two victims in a vehicle. One person was shot in the head and died on scene.
He has been identified as Nikolas Ell, 26. His passenger, a 27-yr-old, was shot three times in the chest.

Sources say very early reports indicate the double shooting may be a self-defense where a person was forced into a vehicle for a robbery. That victim is who allegedly shot the two people in the vehicle.
That makes three shootings for July 2nd in Baton Rouge.
