BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police officers arrested one person in connection with the latest shooting death that took place in the city. Baton Rouge Police arrested 23-year-old Sakyron Taylor for the shooting death of a 22-year-old male.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 29, 2024, at Uncle Moe’s Food Mart and Deli on Plank Rd. near Hollywood St.
A 22-year-old man, identified as Martelle Hamilton, was shot and died on the scene.
Baton Rouge Police says Hamilton and Taylor got into a fist fight but then Taylor allegedly shot Hamilton multiple times as Hamilton was walking back to his car.
Taylor is charged with second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. His bond was set at $275,000 by Commissioner Kory Tauzin.
Anyone with information on the deadly shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
