BRPD investigating deadly drive-by shooting

BATON ROUGE —- The Baton Rouge Police Dept. is investigating the city’s latest murder.

It happened around 4:45 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30 on 79th Avenue. That’s off of Harding Blvd. near Scenic Highway.

Officials say it was a drive-by shooting that happened in the 2000 block of 79th Ave. when an unknown vehicle pulled up, shot multiple rounds and then left the scene.

The man who was shot was rushed to a hospital in a private vehicle. He did not survive his injuries. He has been identified as Anthony Mitchell, 31.

At this time, it’s unknown if police have a motive or any suspect(s).
