BRPD investigating fatal early morning crash

Baton Rouge Police traffic detectives are investigating a fatal crash that occurred around 12:10 a.m. in the 3200 block of Fairfields Ave and North Acadian Thruway.

Officials say a 22-year-old driving a Nissan Altima refused to adhere to Baton Rouge police officers’ signals to stop after observing a traffic violation on Florida Blvd near North Acadian Thruway.

According to authorities, the driver of the Altima entered the intersection and struck a Ford F-250 while fleeing from officers.

The F-250 driver, Victor Remone Duncan, 56, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. The Altima driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

This investigation is ongoing.
