BRPD makes arrest in attempted murder & confiscates multiple guns & drugs

Baton Rouge Police made an arrest in Baker Jan. 26th in an attempted murder case from Dec. 2021. During the arrest, a search of an apartment turned up multiple guns, drugs and cash.

The U.S. Marshal’s Task Force & East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office helped the Baton Rouge Police Dept. arrested two people in Baker around 9am on Jan. 26th.

Reginald Joseph Jr., 20 and Sheddranieca McKenzie, 22, were arrested on Groom Rd., after officials went to serve an arrest warrant on Joseph.

Joseph was wanted for his alleged involvement in a shooting from Dec. 13, 2021 on North 46th St. where Joseph is accused of shooting a man several times while trying to buy drugs.

Joseph was arrested for attempt first degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

While arresting Joseph, officials searched an apartment at 5350 Groom Rd. and found multiple guns, drugs and an undisclosed amount of money.

McKenzie was also arrested for possession with intent to distribute schedule I drugs and possession of a firearm with controlled dangerous substance.

Additional charges are pending for Joseph based on what all was found at the apartment complex.
