BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 46-year-old man who was shot in early November 2025. He died of his injuries earlier this week.
According to BRPD, on Nov. 9, 2025, officers responded to a reported shooting in the 9900 block of Gwenadele Avenue, near Airline Highway. BRPD officers later made contact with the victim, John Earl Thomas, at a local hospital, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound.
BRPD reports that Thomas succumbed to his injuries from the shooting on Jan. 22. The case is now being investigated as a homicide.
At this time, there are no suspects or motive. The investigation is ongoing.
