BATON ROUGE —- An internal affairs investigation has been launched into a police officer after a woman’s death late Saturday night in Baton Rouge.
It was around 11:45pm on Saturday, Sept. 30 when Baton Rouge Police officers were dispatched to a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.
The hit and run involving a 38-yr-old woman and a gray car was at the intersection of North Boulevard at North Foster Dr.
The gray car’s driver fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian, who has been identified as Quiana Brown.
That’s when a BRPD officer was driving to the scene to respond to the hit and run. The officer was not aware that the pedestrian who had been hit by the vehicle, was in the roadway.
It’s why officials say the officer ran over the pedestrian while responding to the hit and run.
The woman died on the scene. It’s unclear though if she died from the gray car hitting her or from the officer running over her. It will be difficult for an autopsy to determine which specific injury killed her.
If the police car had a dash camera, that camera will now be reviewed to determine any details into the woman’s death. It’s also why an internal affairs investigation is underway into the officer.
