PORT ALLEN — A West Baton Rouge Parish jury took just 30 minutes on Friday to find a Brusly man guilty of two counts of second-degree murder, home invasion, and obstruction of justice.
Kevin Craig, 61, was convicted of stabbing Myiesha Briama Adams, 29, and Robert Washington, 66, both of Brusly, multiple times in March 2022. District Attorney Tony Clayton described the killings as “horrific.”
Investigators say that Craig had been having an affair with Adams and had a child with her. He reportedly dropped her off at Washington’s home before returning to his wife. However, Craig later returned to Washington’s residence on Lukeville Lane.
Investigators believe that Craig forcibly dragged Adams out of the house. Although someone at the residence called 911, Addis Police and West Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies found no one when they arrived. Washington’s body was discovered the following day after he failed to attend church. Investigators determined that Washington had been stabbed six times with a large knife, while Adams had been stabbed 13 times.
Officers later uncovered video footage showing Craig holding a large knife at around 1 a.m. on the morning of the murders. He was also seen leaving Washington’s home with Adams. Craig’s mobile phone was discovered at the location where Adams’ body was found.
“We will not tolerate these brutal murders in our community,” said Clayton. “We will prosecute and ask for the strongest sentences possible. Two lives were ended, and their families are still grieving. He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. I want to commend both the Addis Police Department and WBR Sheriff’s Office for their investigation in this case, which was critical to getting the guilty verdicts.”
Sentencing is set for October 3.
