CALEF to raffle entire barrel of Buffalo Trace & KY tour, tasting for 5

BATON ROUGE – The countdown is on to the drawing for a chance to win a Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel and enjoy a unique experience by supporting the Capital Area Law Enforcement Foundation (CALEF) through its Buffalo Trace Raffle.

Raffle tickets are $500, and only 100 tickets are available. Tickets are on sale until 5:30 p.m. on July 13. The drawing will be one hour later at an event being held at Dragos. In addition to the raffle, items will be auctioned, according to CALEF President Pat Englade.

The below slideshow is a sample of many of the items that will be auctioned off in a live auction on July 13th at Drago’s.

“We’re gonna have a silent and a live auction with some really cool stuff,” Englade explained. “LSU signed memorabilia, five guns, and just a bunch of different things we’re auctioning off. Everything we raise from this as a CALEF event goes towards buying bulletproof vests for our police officers.”

CALEF comprises citizens who stand with local law enforcement, fire & EMS personnel, providing them with the safety equipment they need to serve and protect.

The organization started after the tragic ambush that killed three law enforcement officers on July 17, 2016. Another officer injured during the ambush died nearly six years later.

The foundation is dedicated in memory of the officers serving the community as well as other law enforcement who continue to sacrifice their lives in the line of duty in the Capital area.

Each raffle ticket purchased gets the person admission to the private event for the drawing and their name on a purchased vest worn by a first responder.

Three winners will be chosen. The first-place winner will get the chance to take four other people with them for a VIP tour of Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.

“It’s a great thing for Buffalo Trace to do,” Englade said. “Certainly, it’s a unique opportunity. You go for three days, and you tour the facility. They take you from barrel to barrel and you taste it. You decide which barrel you want, and then they’ll take it from there.”

Englade said the distillery would bottle up the roughly 220-fifths of bourbon, customize the bottles and ship them to the raffle winner.

“We invite everybody to come by,” he said .”We’re going to have some very good food from Dragos. It’s usually a very good time. It’ll just be a fun event for everybody to come. And it’s only a couple of hours long. We want people to come out and hopefully support us.”

There will also be second and third place winners for the raffle.

Winners will be announced at the auction on July 13th at Drago’s between 6-8pm.
