St. George firefighters responded to the Mall of Louisiana around 3:45pm for a CATS bus on fire.
The fire could be seen from a distance and there were explosions. The fire was put out within minutes.
The investigation so far reveals mechanical issues caused the fire. The driver of the bus was waiting for mechanics to get there when the bus started smoking. The explosions were the tires popping.
The driver was already having issues with the bus when she pulled over to call for help. The driver is fine.
The Mall of Louisiana Blvd. in front of Dillards and behind LongHorn Steakhouse was shut down as crews finished cleaning up the fire.
Is it an electric bus?
