KROTZ SPRINGS —- Video caught by a UWK viewer appears to show a possible tornado or funnel cloud crossing through Krotz Springs Thursday night.

The video was captured around 9 p.m. near Division St. in St. Landry Parish, that’s west of Pointe Coupee Parish, specifically, west of Livonia.

The video appears to show a funnel cloud in Krotz Springs, although there is no confirmation at this time of a tornado. In fact, the National Weather Service goes out in the days following a storm to determine if a tornado did touch down or not.

Officials are reporting there are some homes and even a two-story apartment complex whose roofs peeled off during the storm. Everyone is accounted for and everyone is okay.

Officials added wind speeds registered roughly 70-80 mph in Krotz Springs around 9 p.m. as the first line of storms rolled through southeast Louisiana Thursday night.
