CENTRAL —- Firefighters are working to investigate what led up to deadly fire, in which a man lost his life.
It was around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16 when Central firefighters responded to a call for a possible fire at 14585 Bon Dickey Dr. Upon arrivals, firefighters found a fully engulfed home.
While battling the fire, the homeowner advised firefighters that a family-friend was still inside the home. That’s when officials tell UWK that firefighters broke through a window and rescued the man.
He was rushed to a hospital, but did not survive his injuries. His name has not been released at this time.
The initial house fire did spread to an adjacent trailer, displacing the two residents inside of it. Both did escape safely. The Red Cross has been contacted for the two, as well as the homeowner of the house that caught on fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The home has been deemed a loss.
