CENTRAL —- The body of a 24-year-old man was pulled out of the Amite River around 7 p.m.
It comes after East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies, Central PD, Central Fire and Eastside Fire Departments’ Dive Teams responded to a call for a possible drowning around 5 p.m. on May 3rd. It happened at Frenchtown Rd. near the railroad tracks in Central.
EBRSO identified the victim as Timothy R Carey, 24. Officials say Carey attempted to swim across the Amite River.
“The river was high with a very swift current. Mid-way across the river the victim went under and did not resurface,” said EBRSO.
