CENTRAL — One person has died and three people in another vehicle were transported to a hospital after a head-on crash Thursday evening in Central.
The two-vehicle head-on crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 on Greenwell Springs Rd. near Lighthouse Ave. That’s between Hooper and Wax roads in the City of Central.
Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran tells UWK the driver of a white SUV was headed south on Greenwell Springs Rd. went he veered off the roadway to the right. He overcorrected into the northbound lane, directly into the path of an oncoming black pick-up truck. That triggered a head-on crash.
The driver of the white SUV was transported via AirMed in critical condition, but did not survive his injuries. His name has not been released at this time.
Three people in the truck were also transported to a hospital, one in serious and two others in stable condition.
Central Police and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies remain on the scene responding to the crash.
Greenwell Springs Rd. remains shut down until further notice as official investigate the crash scene and then clear it eventually.
