CENTRAL — Central Police officers arrested one person and are searching for another in connection to a robbery at a Circle K store that left one person injured.
The incident happened at the Circle K at 9530 Hooper Road around 1:30 a.m. on July 19. At that time, Central Police says that Destani Harrington, who was a passenger in a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, entered the store and started speaking with the store clerk. That’s when officers say Harrington allegedly took 10 small bottles of Hennessy Cognac that were close to the store clerk before fleeing the business without paying.
The store clerk immediately followed Harrington to recover the stolen merchandise. As the clerk reached the passenger side of the Jeep Cherokee, Central PD investigators say that Harrington grabbed the clerk by her shirt, holding her against the vehicle while telling the driver (later identified as Brittany N. Wilson) to grab the victim’s arm.
Harrington allegedly ordered the driver to drive away while the victim remained partially inside the Jeep. As Watson began accelerating, the store clerk was dragged approximately 30 feet before falling into the roadway, according to police. She narrowly avoided having her head run over by the rear tire of the vehicle; however, one of her arms was run over, causing severe injuries that required extensive surgery followed by several weeks of rehabilitation and recovery.
Central Police officers arrested Wilson on July 29th. She was booked on charges of: principal to second-degree robbery and second-degree aggravated battery.
The Central Police Department has also obtained an arrest warrant for Harrington, charging her with: second-degree robbery and principal to second-degree aggravated battery.
Harrington is currently at large. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Central Police Department or call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP. You can also submit an anonymous tip online.
