Central: School bus driver injured after crash | No children onboard bus

CENTRAL — The Central Police Dept. ticketed a pickup truck driver after he told officers he fell asleep at the wheel, UWK has learned.

The wreck happened around 4:15 p.m. on Joor Rd. near Core Lane in Central.

Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran tells UWK the driver of a pickup truck crossed over the center lane on Joor Rd. into the path of the oncoming school bus. The truck crashed head-on into the school bus that was going south on Joor Rd.

Chief Corcoran says no children were on the bus. The driver of the school bus was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the pickup was not injured and has since been ticketed for causing the crash.
