Central: Second crash of day involves vehicle hitting occupied school bus

CENTRAL — For the second time Friday, a crash altered traffic in Central.

The crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. in the 21700 block of Greenwell Springs Road. A bus was traveling north on Greenwell Springs when a Toyota Corolla crossed over into oncoming traffic and crashed into the school bus.

The school bus was occupied. Two children had minor injuries by bumping their heads. They received medical treatment. All the children were transferred to another bus and proceeded to go to their homes.

Greenwell Springs reopened as of 5 p.m. Officials say the Corolla driver is being detained and questioned. Impairment is suspected as part of the crash.

The first crash happened around 11:45 a.m. on Friday on Hooper Road between Joor Rd. & Sullivan Rd. 

One person died from the head-on crash.
